Alex Bergtraun, HouseAlex and his wife, Michelle, have been members for 19 years. They have 2 boys, Asher, 14, and Ruben, 9, and Michelle's mom, Piera, lives right next to them in grand Italian tradition. Asher and Ruben have both been through Nursery School, active in Kee Tov in the summers that they're not in Italy, and they both attend Religious School, with Asher just completing his Bar Mitzvah last Spring with a very proud family around him. He has been really enjoying his first year of Midrasha this year. Alex and Michelle work together in their architectural studio with Michelle using her MBA to keep the business side afloat. Alex has been on and off the Board for the past seven presidencies as House Chair while working from the ground up, literally and metaphysically, on the new synagogue project, from land acquisition through move in and can now be seen regularly working on lighting, acoustic and color projects that he's fairly sure will keep him and his committee occupied through the next Millennium. Creating sacred space together is what Alex believes is our community's calling as a "kehilla kedosha" and he's especially pleased that his sons are of an age that they understand and appreciate this process of "being built together". |
