Leyna Bernstein, Fundraising/Development

Leyna Bernstein and her husband Brian Parker live in Albany, and have been members of Beth El for 4 years. Son Eli attends Religious School and is a dedicated Kee Tov Camper. In her professional life, Leyna has been consulting with nonprofit organizations since 1996, and specializes in leadership and board development, and executive search.

Prior to her career in the nonprofit sector, Leyna was a human resources executive in the corporate sector. Specializing in socially responsible businesses, she was the Recruiting Research Manager for The Gap, Inc., Director of Human Resources for The Nature Company, and Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for Smith & Hawken.

Leyna is the author of “Creating Your Employee Handbook: A Do-It-Yourself Kit for Nonprofits”, published by Jossey-Bass. She graduated from U.C. Berkeley in 1981.
