Several Beth El women are interested in forming a quilt group.  We will have our first meeting on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 7:00 pm at Beth El.  We would like to create a group that meets once a month, but beyond that, our objectives are unclear.  Will we work on our own individual pieces?  Learn from each other?  Create a work of art to display somewhere at Beth El?  Piece together scraps from our community, to be sent as comfort to those in need of our healing wishes?   Please join us as we consider all these possibilities.  For show and tell, bring projects you have finished and projects you fear you'll never finish.  Bring something to work on, if you have a portable project. AND BRING A FAT QUARTER, something you like, but would be willing to give away.  We'll collect these fat quarters and give them away as a door prize.  Questions?  Comments?  Call Maggie Hand: 923-1342 or Margie Gelb: 655-5211.

Seeking Housing: I am looking for a furnished home to share with a male or female in Albany or Berkeley. I am a 45-year-old male and Assistant Director for the largest Jewish University in Israel. Our West Coast offices are in San Francisco.

As a result of an impending divorce we must sell our nearby home. We have owned our current residence for six years. Our boys ( 7 and 3) will live with my wife in Albany and I want to be nearby. Our younger son attends pre-school and our older son will enter 2nd grade in September.

I am seeking housing in the nicer areas of Albany or Berkeley and a larger rather than smaller home is preferred. If their were an upstairs and downstairs affording each of us relative privacy that would be very nice.

I am a respectful, personable, professional and a responsible person and I am happy to accommodate you with any references and background information you seek.

Contact me at 510-610-4384 or at swimdaddy1@usms.org. As way of explanation my email address refers to the fact that I swim with the CAL Masters swim team each morning before taking the BART to work. Thank you very much.

Part-Time Care Giver Needed For Elder in Berkeley Hills : We are looking for a part-time companion/care giver for an elder living in her Berkeley Hills home. Successful candidates will be friendly, companionable and comfortable with silence, respectful and confident, comfortable with basic household help, personal care and managing medical appointments and household help. Must have a car and excellent driving record. 15-20 hours per week interim or possibly long-term position. Contact Bridget at: 415-925-9099 or bridget.gleason@comcast.net

Jean is an 88-year-old, highly independent and very interesting woman who, in the last few years, has lost most of her vision, much of her hearing, and suffered numerous other medical problems.

We are looking for a caregiver, on a part-time and possibly temporary basis, to assist her in her North Berkeley home. The job involves errands, some with her, taking her to doctor appointments, following up with doctor and medical issues, assisting with meals, and miscellaneous other tasks. A car is necessary. At the present, there is not a need for significant personal care, but a few months ago she needed help with bathing and toileting.

She has had a caregiver working about 18 hours a week and that has been almost enough, given the number of family and friends in and around her home. Her current caregiver is going on an international trip for 3 months and we are looking for someone either to fill in or takeover the position entirely.

We are extremely flexible on scheduling . Contact Bridget at: 415-925-9099 or bridget.gleason@comcast.net

Its mission is to offer reasonably priced food and products that are sustainably sourced from a central Berkeley location. The CoG will run on a democratic model in which every member can vote on operational issues at monthly general meetings. Additionally, every member must work 2 1/2 hours per month and pay a one-time $100 (refundable) investment and a one-time $25 (nonrefundable) fee. The $25 fee is waived for members who join before September 1.
