Thank you for your interest in Tribe! We are a diverse group of young adults in our 20’s and 30’s that is creating and growing our Jewish community connections in the Bay Area. Though our leadership team is based in Berkeley through our affiliation with Congregation Beth El, our core mission is to help young Jewish adults in the wider East Bay connect through social, spiritual, conversational and intellectual activities and events.

There are many different ways to become involved in the Tribe throughout the year. Some choose to participate in our many events, bringing their personality and passions to each gathering. For others, joining one of our cabinet committees and helping guide the Tribe’s programmatic, development, marketing or membership paths is the right level of involvement. Whatever you choose, we hope you find a supportive and fun community in the Tribe, and please know that we are always open to growing our events and programming to better match the interests of our participants. Make sure to join our group on Facebook to keep up to date on our events!

This holiday season, we invite you to join the Tribe in practicing our core value of tikkun olam (repairing the world) by engaging together in social action. We are organizing a Congregation Beth El-wide Adopt-a-Family effort and would love your participation! The Adopt-a-Family gift program is a nationwide effort that partners with the Alameda County Social Services Agency. It allows for donors (that’s us!) to adopt a family before the holiday season starts, see their wish list and provide gifts that may not be received otherwise. We’re hoping you are able to join us in this effort to support those in need in our own community. All you have to do is  select your family, purchase and wrap their gifts and drop them back at Beth El. It’s that simple! The Tribe will take care of all organizing and delivery of gifts to Alameda County Social Services.

Please click here to become a donor now! Once you’ve entered your contact information, you’ll choose a family size and drop off location. NOTE: In order to view and select a family, you must select a location for drop off. Please choose one of the three Oakland locations. You will not actually drop your gifts at that location--Tribe will take care of that for you!--you’ll be dropping your gifts at Beth El. Adopt-a-Family shows the wishlists of the children in each listed family, but purchasing gift cards to Safeway/Walmart/Target-type places for the parents and/or guardians of the children is always appreciated as well. We hope through this service we can provide gifts for many families in need in our local community. Please feel free to partner with other Beth El families, coordinate a grade-wide multi-family adoption or select a family on your own.

This is an amazing opportunity to support families in our wider community and to create space in your own family to have meaningful conversations about how we enact our Jewish value of tikkun olam--repairing the world.

We hope you’ll join us in this effort! All gifts must be collected by Saturday, December 2 at Havdallah YAFE.
