Sunday, January 21, 2024 • 11 Sh'vat 5784
10:30 AM - 1:00 PMCongregation Beth El
Join the Chevra Kadisha of Beth El for coffee and cake, a film screening, and a discussion about end-of-life issues.
When Jack Tuller, a man with a terminal brain tumor for 25 years decides to end his life, his family and friends struggle to accept his decision. Jack’s best friend, Berkeley filmmaker Bradley Berman, documented his three-year quest to die a happy man, culminating in a permanent going-away party.
The film addresses several important questions:
- Is living as long as possible always what a person wants at the end of their life?
- What options do we have for choosing a peaceful death?
- What happens when family and friends are upset about a person’s decision to choose a good death over a painful life?
After the screening we will have a conversation and Q and A with Rabbi Ira Rosenberg; Bradley Berman, the film’s director; and Marcia Hofer Ph.D., founding president of A Better Exit.
We are suggesting a donation of 5 dollars, which people can give at the door.
Sorry, Registration has ended.
