Erev Tisha B'av

Saturday, August 6, 2022 9 Av 5782

7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Tisha B’av, the 9th day of the month of Av on the Hebrew calendar, is historically a day of mourning, on which a large number of disasters that befell Jewish communities across time and across the globe are remembered, including the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem. Tisha B’av also marks the beginning of the season of preparation for the High Holy Days.

Join your Beth El community for a night of contemplative reflection and prayer, beginning with a meaningful service. Following the service, we will explore the themes of Tisha B’av in more depth: How do we move from our feelings of grief and disconnection from God on Tisha B’av, to the High Holy Days just a few short weeks later, a season in which we strive to feel most deeply connected and hopeful as we begin the New Year? Join us as we explore together some of the ways the ancient rabbis have charted this spiritual and emotional journey, and to imagine the steps we might take together in the weeks to follow.
