HIGH HOLY DAYS VIRTUAL FOOD DRIVE

While it is too early to assess the full impact of the government’s funding cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB) recognizes that families affected by these cuts will have nowhere else to turn but to nonprofit food banks like ACCFB, which is already under strain.

SNAP provides nine meals for every one meal supplied by Feeding America food banks. The additional burden that will be placed on food banks like ACCFB is unsustainable, and the consequences of these funding cuts will be devastating.

Synagogues participating in the annual High Holiday Food Drive are encouraged to make monetary donations to help ACCFB purchase its most needed items. Every $1 donated to the food bank allows them to distribute food for two meals—every contribution, every meal, and every step toward food justice matters, now more than ever.
