RABBI IRA ROSENBERG

Rabbi Ira Rosenberg was ordained as a Rabbi at Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles. Originally from Philadelphia, Ira spent many summers attending URJ Camp Harlam where he connected to the strong sense of Jewish community and was an active participant in Jewish youth programs throughout the year. These experiences have greatly shaped Ira's passion for creating inclusive and engaging Jewish communities. Prior to rabbinical school, Ira attended Temple University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in History. After graduation, Ira continued his studies at Arcadia University, earning a Masters in Education with a focus on Elementary and Special Education. Upon graduation, Ira, a Jewish educator at heart, moved to the Bay Area where he worked as the Youth Director at Temple Isaiah in Lafayette, California for three years (and met his wife, Ariel!). While in Rabbinical School, Ira spent time working as the student Rabbi for Congregation B'nei David in Visalia, CA, and as the Rabbinic Intern for USC Hillel and UCLA Hillel. In his capacity with UCLA Hillel, Ira served as the founding Rabbinic Fellow for Base WSTWD, welcoming in hundreds of young adults to his home for Shabbat and holiday meals, learning, service, and community. Prior to joining Congregation Beth El, Ira worked as the Rabbi Educator at Temple Shalom in Chevy Chase, Maryland. In his current role as Director of Congregational Learning, Ira oversees the formal and informal education programs. Ira seeks to build strong connections amongst his students and families as well as bring forward meaningful and accessible ways to engage with Judaism. Ira hopes to bring forward joy and create a warm, heimishe community in his work.

In Ira's spare time, he loves rooting for his favorite Philadelphia sports teams, enjoying live music, exploring the great outdoors, and spending time with his children, Lev, Nomi and Ethan, and his wife, Ariel.
