Tu B’Shevat celebrates the New Year of the Trees and invites us to connect with our Earth and our own cycles of renewal as we mark the beginning of the transition from winter into spring. Join us - both indoors and outdoors - for this year’s hands-on multi-sensory experience.

Film Screening of “Jack Has a Plan” @ Beth El (For Adults)

The seasonal shifts in the natural world can inspire our reflection on the seasonal shifts in our lives and the lives of our loved ones. Join the Chevra Kadisha of Beth El for coffee and cake, a film screening, and a discussion about end-of-life issues. After the screening we will have a conversation and Q and A with Rabbi Ira; Bradley Berman, the film’s director; and Marcia Hofer, Ph.D., founding president of A Better Exit. A Taste of Tu B’Shevat @ Beth El (For Adults)
Thursday, January 25th from 5:00-6:00pm

Join us in the Sanctuary on Erev Tu B'Shevat for an exploration of the symbols of a Tu B'Shevat Seder, including a variety of fruits, nuts and seeds, the 7 biblical species and the blending of red and white wines (or grape juice). Beth El’s Garden Team will lead us in planting Seeds for the Season! This will be an informal, go-at-your-own-pace opportunity for tasting, chatting and learning. Register to join us!

Tu B’Shevat Shabbat and Shabbat Shirah on Fourth Friday
Friday, January 26th Beginning at 5:00pm
Advance Registration Required

Shabbat Shirah - the extra-musical Shabbat when, in our annual Torah-reading cycle we reach parashat Beshalah and recite the Song of the Sea - always falls around Tu B’Shevat. This year, Tu B’Shevat ends just as Shabbat Shirah begins, *and* it’s Fourth Friday! Join us for this special confluence of these joyful occasions:

  • 5:00 pm - 21+ Tu B’Shevat Four Colors Wine Tasting Happy Hour (including child care for pre-K (potty trained) through 5th graders!). Non-alcoholic options will be available! As on Pesach, at a Tu B’Shevat Seder 4 cups of wine (or juice) are also enjoyed, but on Tu B’Shevat we move from white to deep red. Join us for this special happy hour during which we’ll taste the 4 colors! Our Climate Tzedek team will also be on hand during this time with super helpful information and resources on home electrification!
  • 6:15 pm - Our whole community comes together in the Sanctuary for a special Fourth Friday service lifting up Shabbat Shirah and featuring our Beth El Chorus.
  • 7:15 pm (approximate timing) - Services will be followed by a Tu B’Shevat-themed catered dinner in the Social Hall.
